چکیده
This paper studies the impact of intermediaries’ disappearance on firms’ access to sterling money market during first globalization era 1880-1914. We propose a new methodology assess substitutability in financial networks featuring higher-order structures (credit intermediation chains). represent network as hyperstructure and each credit chain hyperedge. approach allows us how failure intermediaries affects connectivity. apply this unique dataset documenting structure year 1906. Our results reveal that individual actors could only cause limited damage were highly substitutable. These findings suggest an international without systemic nodes can emerge even at time global economic integration.

Financial Intermediaries and Markets
A complex financial system comprises both financial markets and financial intermediaries. We distinguish financial intermediaries according to whether they issue complete contingent contracts or incomplete contracts. Intermediaries such as banks that issue incomplete contracts, e.g., demand deposits, are subject to runs, but this does not imply a market failure. A sophisticated financial system...
متن کاملEmerging Markets and Financial Intermediaries
Over the last fifteen years, emerging economies have experienced abrupt changes in bond spreads and large movements in capital flows. We propose a simple general equilibrium model where international investors hire fund managers to invest their capital either in the bonds of an emerging economy or in a riskless asset. We model the emerging economy as a small-open economy subject to an aggregate...

This paper presents a model on the leverage of nancial intermediaries, where debt are held by risk averse agents and equity by the risk neutral. The paper shows that in an unregulated competitive market, nancial intermediaries choose to be leveraged over the social best level. This is because the leverage of one intermediary imposes a negative externality upon others by reducing their pro t m...

To do so, we adopt a model of intermediated entrepreneurial investment in which the assets held by intermediaries can be monitored only imperfectly. In our model, these assets matter, because intermediaries insure Þrms against the possibility of a liquidity shock. We show th...
متن کاملThe hybrid approach based on genetic algorithm and neural network to predict financial fraud in banks
Audit has become an essential topic in the world because there is much evidence about deliberate manipulations in the reports. One of the concerns in the field of audit is discovery and search of the financial statements and the high volume of bulk data. This study tried to suggest the appropriate method to detect these frauds due to the data which has been available and a proposed algorithm. R...
